A child, two-and-a-half years of age, named Alfred Thornton, was run over yesterday afternoon, in Victoria Road, Devonport, by a buggy driven by Mr. James Buchanan, insurance agent. The occurrence was a pure accident, the child being in the act of running across the road. Mr. Buchanan took the child tc the Auckland District Hospital, where, on inquiries being made at a late hour last evening, he was reported to be in a serious condition, fears of internal injuries being entertained.
