The Auckland Acclimatisation Society will, in the course of a week or so, have the batch of pheasants which they have purchased for breeding purposes safely housed at the society's depot at lapapa. IMb work of erecting the breeding-pens has been begun, and the pheasants— seven cocks and seven hens—will shortly be brought up frow Wellington. If all goes well, there should he some young buds in October. The birds will not be distributed, however, until next yeas* ■:■ K -
