PRESENTATION OF REPORTS.
PRIVATE MEMBERS' BILLS.

Wellington, Wednesday. A large number of additional reports made their iippearance in the House today, including the defence report, which has been awaited with considerable interest. After a number of private members' bills had been disposed of the discussion on the Estimates was resumed. The Legislative Council confined its attention to the Farriers' Bill and one or two other matters. AUCKLAND CEMETERIES BILL. The Auckland (Symonds-street) Cemeteries Bill was reported to the House today by the Local Bills Committee, with a recommendation that it be allowed to proceed, with a number of verbid amendments. JOTTINGS. In replying to a question from Mr. Poole to-day, the Minister for Justice stated that no complaint had been received that witnesses at the Supreme Court at Auckland suffered any inconvenience through the lack of proper accommodation, but a report on the subject had been asked for. The Minister for Lands informed Mr. Poland to-day that the question of what road works were necessary in connection with the Piako Swamp drainage works are now being considered by the engineer in charge. A return, presented to the House on the motion of v Mr. Greenslade shows that the total sum expended by the Lands Department on the KiHohaku West No. 2 Loan Block was £5751.
