COX'S CREEK DRAINAGE.
At last night's meeting of the City; Council, :,-]■?*■ the city engineer, reporting >en CoxV '/-■ j Creek drainage, said that the present > sewer drained into the creek, md that there were, two ways: of obviating \ the iiujh; "j£? sance. ' ■ These were '■: (a) by a; permanent jixv construction, taking both foul sewage,, and \~ t storm water (b) by a temporary pipe or, timber trough to take just' the foikpsewag* ■'■-;.. at present discharging into- the- creek. Mr. ;>> Bwfih added that, independent of these - - methods, there Was to be determined the ■["■':■[ best method for dealing with the sewers aii -■' present discharging" into the/creek! ."?-? He i" •* recommended that a 12in pipe be extended f." from the terminus of the 3ft barrel sewer ?- as far as the line of proposed branch in-. • ' terceptihg sawer, and tat* a similar pro- . cedure be adopted with the 3ft r 6iu and sft : ' 3in sewer. He then : proposed Ato con-. struct 2700 ft of 18ih by 12ih at : the Pon- A--sonby W. branch, intercepting 5 the -sewer *;£, from its intending junction with' the mainWjy outfall sewer in Richmond; Road, and -to : connect to this the 2,lin pipe from Grey Lynn. For drainage of the creek proper ; the engineer suggested f (a) 1 an invert only for a large enough j sewer to deal with the whole of the storm water entering the - ; . creek (the most satisfactory method for the combined Councils to adopt); or (b) to finish, the sewer off completely and ; form, a culvert right down- the channel of the creek. Mr. Bush submitted coats of the■>.£;: j various works,; and ; gave 1 the cost of the ; scheme' recommended at .£17,000 (about). "-. The, committee recommended that » copy of 'the report be sent to the Grey Lym'i ?«. Borough Council, with" an intimation thaft The Works Committee recommended that ; ; a copv of the report sent to the Grey Lynn Borough Council, with an intimatioir "■ i that the committee would be pleased to'con* i fer with them on the matter. The report - ■- was adopted.
