In addition to the averages published last week the following lists have been received : — GRAFTON DISTRICT CLUB. FIRST ELEVEN',

, —r~ GOLF.. Owing to the smallness of entries received for the George Cup, to have been played for at Cornwall Park'links to-day, the committee has decided to abandon the event. The Waitemata Golf Club, had an attendance of about 50 players on their links on Saturday last. Keen competition was shown in the eclectic competition, which has just begun. To-day the first round of the medal competition, 18 holes-stroke play, handicap, will be played. Tho draw for partners will take place at 2.15 p.m.; post entries. On Monday last tho members of the A.L.G.C. played, for the monthly medal which was won by Miss Rachel Gorrie, with the net score of 97, Miss H. Buckland being second with 98, 98, and Miss M. Towle third with 99. Miss Ethel Martin returned the best score for the English silver medal, 89 net. In the semi-finals for Mrs. Lewis' cup, Miss Rachel Gorrie plays Miss Ethel Martin, and Miss H. Buckland plays Miss M. Towle. The entries close on Monday next for the prize presented by Mrs. Alfred Nathan: the conditions arc the, total of two rounds of 18 holes, medal play. On Tuesday next, the.,first round of the captain's prize will be played for by the members of the Auckland Ladies' Golf Club. The competition is a foursome handicap, two rounds of 18 holes, medal play, the conditions being, post entry, and players may choose their own partners and opponents. , Mrs. W. Bloomfield has given a prize for competition amongst the girl members of the Auckland Ladies' Club, to be played for on May 19 and 22, the entries to close on May 18. / Recent ■ English files refer to an unusual incident having occurred in the London professional foursome tournament, played last month. In the match' in which Turner and McKenzie opposed John Kennell and Moore the last-named played the tee short at two consecutive holes. By the rulers of golf, his side should have been penalised by the loss of the hole, but McKenzie and Turner did not claim the hole, and the referee failed to take cognisance of the point. Moore and Kennell continued to drive in the wrong order to the end of the match.
