At the last meeting of the Wailii I Bon')ugh Council, a circular was received from Lady Plunkct relative to the Society for the Promotion of Health of Women and Children, and dealing more particularly with the question of instructing mothers in the upbringing of their infants. It "was pointed out that the society had enlaced nurses to lecture to mothers in the various centres and that a nurse could visit Waihi it desired at a salary of £3 06. per week, with travelling expenses and board. It was decided to secure the services of a nurse for a fortnight, the Mayor to convene a meeting of -.vomer to meet her. The official assignee -(Mr. E. Gerard) has been notified that Win. Taylor Davics, boot importer, of Auckland, ha,s filed a petition in bankruptcy. The first meeting of creditors will be held on Friday afternoon next.
