London,- April 10 A disastrous explosion has occurred at the Norton Hill Colliery, Somerset, ten men being suffocated, despite repeated heroic attempts to rescue them.
There were 30 men ot the night shift below at the time of the explosion, and 20 succeeded in escaping.
Many of the rescuers were carried out insensible, and one of them succumbed.
CAUSE OF THE DISASTER
(Received April 12, 4.20 p.m.) London, April 11. The Norton Hill colliery explosion is, attributed to the ignition of coal dust during the firing of a shot.
