FALL DOWN A BLOW HOLE.

YOUNG LADY DASHED TO DEATH.

A SCHOOL mistress named Miss Dora Green, accompanied by a friend, Miss Etta Gourlay, paid a visit to the Blow Hole at Eaglehawk Neck, near Hobart, about 8.30 on the night of the 7th inst., when a very "strong sea was running. Shortly after reaching the spot Miss Green was caught by a strong rush of water, and washed off her feet and carried into the seething waters of the Blow Hole. Two gentlemen from Adelaide, and Mr. E. Ross, junior, who happened to be in the vicinity at the time of the accident, immediately proceeded to the spot to try and rescue the unfortunate young lady, but were unable to see any trace of her. Miss Gourlav climbed down the rocks on the opposite side of the Blow Hole, and attracted the attention of three men who were engaged loading timber on the barge Birgana, and thev immediately put off in a boat to the mouth of the hole, but their efforts at rescue were unavailing. The bargemen, at considerable personal risk, entered the tunnel and proceeded along the ledge as far as possible, but could find nothing of the unfortunate young lady's body. .Shortly afterwards Mr. William Smith, a resident "of the Neck, joined the party, and together they proceeded to the back of the Blow Hole, where, after a short search, thej recovered the Body. In the short time that had elapsed since the accident the remains bad been severely battered # about, and were quite unrecognisable, besides being almost denuded of clothing. The deceased was 19 years of ago. .
