AN AUSTRIAN'S SUICIDE.

HANGS HIMSELF IN ALBERT PARK.

A .shocking discovery was made in Albert Park shortly before seven o'clock yesterday morning.. As, Mr. W. G. Walker, of Newton, was walking through the reserve at that hour be saw a man lying under a, tree in what- struck him as a peculiar position. On going over he found that the man was dead, and had a leather belt drawn tightly round his necK, with the frayed ends of a ; broken piece of rope attached to it. Part of the rope was hanging from the bough of the tree above, while near-by stood a box, which bad evidently been used by deceased in effecting a drop.

The discovery was at-once reported to the police, who had the body removed to the morgue. . Ik was subsequently identified as. that of Mati Boksich, an Austrian, of about"3s years of age, who had been frequently seen in the Police Court on various charges. He was only recently discharged from the hospital, and had an unpaid account for £17 due to that institution on him when found.

An inquest was held at Gleeson's Hotel, before the Coroner (Mr. T. Gresham), and a verdict was returned to 'the effect that death was due to strangulation, self-inflicted whilst of unsound mind.
