Wellington 7, Thursday. The best gallop of this morning at Trentham went to the credit of The Rand and Saga, the latter having the better of the sprint. Gold Crest, Marguerite, and Kuravaka galloped a mil© and a-quarter. Seven furlongs were reeled off in lm. 355., and tho full distance in 2m. 14s, Marguerite and Kurawaka being in front at the finish. Gold Thread was coupled with Fireiron in a sixfurlong gallop. Although the latter jumped off in front, the three-year-old gradually wore him down and finished in front, the distance being covered in lm. 18s. Kautuku did not give Buocleuch a chance over half a-mile, run in 51s. Swimming Belt appeared to be going better than All Red at the end of five furlongs, covered in lm. ss. Diabolo covered six furlongs in lm. 175., and BaMarat took a second longer over the same distance. Mel wood occupied lm. 345. in> traversing seven furlongs. Red Rain was slightly better than Clanchattan once round, of which the last six furlongs took lm. 19s. Armlet galloped four furlongs in 495., Lochiela seven furlongs in lm. 355., and Russiey Maid six furlongs in lm. 20s.
