CATHOLIC MARRIAGES.

AN IMPORTANT DECREE.

By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright.

(Received August 22, 10.55 p.m.) London, August 22. Reuter's Agency asserts that the Roman Catholic Congregation o* Council has issued a decree radically changing the conditions of Roman Catholic marriages. In future these will be invalid everywhere unless celebrated in the presence of a priest and two witnesses, except in districts without a priest for a whole month, when Catholics shall be regarded as validly married if they express their consent in the presence of two witnesses.

The new law will come into operation next Easter.
