THE INGEBORG DISASTER.
EVIDENCE AS TO LIGHTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright Brisbane, August 21. ■At the inquiry into the Ingeboig-Ara-watta collision, Mr. Albertson," mate of the Ingeborg, deposed that the lights of the Ingeborg were burning satisfactorily a few minutes before the collision, and were not hidden. He saw the Arawatta for half an hour before.the collision. He admitted that some nights during the voyage from Wellington the Ingeborg's lights were not lit. (Received August 22. 1.10 a.m.) Brisbane, August 21. At the marine inquiry, Albert-son, the mate of the Ingeborg, testified that the ! lights were lit. for 16 or 17 nights after leaving New Zealand, but were not lighted -on five or six nights, as they were short of oil. Ho denied they had run out of oil on the night of the collision. He stated that the lamps were lit that night. When the lamps were not lit a man stood by ready to light at a. moment's notice. The seaman who was at the wheel between two and three o'clock on the morning of the collision stated that the lights were burning brightly when he was relieved.
