WELLINGTON COURT-MARTIAL

[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]

Wellington, Wednesday. A well-known officer in the Permanent Defence Force was recently placed under arrest and court-mart tailed. It is alleged that he made away with a certain document in order that he might obtain a longservice medal. The finding of the courtmartial has now been forwarded to the head of the Department. It is stated that suitable punishment will be inflicted, but that the offence is not such as to warrant the dismissal of the officer from the force.
