AMENDMENT OF THE LAW DESIRED ' " [BY TELEGRAPH.— press association.] Wellington, Wednesday. V; A deputation, consisting of Drs. j'ruby || King and Collins and three ladies, waited upon Dr. Findlay, Attorney-General, to/v day, regarding infant life protection woYk. ■ It was suggested that the period in which registration is bound, to take place should be shortened, say, to three days in towns v' and within a week in the country. The v deputation al«o represented that the police were not the proper authorities to exercise surveillance over infants' homes, and that provision should be made for a responsible officer, who should have power to cancel til© registration of homes conducted in an J? undesirable manner. Dr. Findlay said he was convinced that something would have to be done to protect infant life more fully than was the > -.' case at present, and the 'law would have y: to bo altered to provide that a qualified ' JUrse should inspect the homes. He also ' intimated that the law would be amended in other directions.. ; '.i i ■'.■•.• ■ . . ,-r i •• • .-,•=..:
