ccivi-d. Elections: The Chairman congratulated Messrs. (Ircensiade and McKenzie upon their re-election, which fact, he said, emphasised the confidence reposed in them by those who Jiad returned them. Teachers Selection : This committee recommended : (1) That the following anpointmeit.s should be authorised by the Board Miss M. R. Archibald, teacliw, Jordan: Miss M. A. Ross, teacher, Amodeo Bav; Miss A. B. Frascr, sixth assistant, Grafton: Mrs. C. C. Forsyth, substitute assistant, Newton East. (2) That school committees bo consulted in regard to proposed appointments as follows: —Grafton (seventh assistant). Miss Nellie Giimore; Hamilton East (assistant), Misses E. V. Hardwieke and E. Roche; Bayfield (fifth assistant), Misses H. M. Allen, E. A. Wheeler, A. AM. Cole, and F. M. Day: Mount Roskill (assistant), Misses L. M. Hill and L. ARobinson; Nelson-street (sixth assistant), Misses E. A. Wheeler and F. M. Day. The report was adopted. Resignation*: The chairman's report stated that the following resignations had been received:—A. Mcintosh, teacher, Kitaia; Miss K. M. Crawford, teacher, Tatu; ami Miss J. I. Ariell, teacher, Okoroire. The report was adopted. Kirikiriroa: It. was decided to change (no name of Kirikiriroa school to Rototuna, on the suggestion of the school committee. Tenders : Tenders were received for the Broadwood and Bryndenvyn school buildings, but as they were in excess of the amount available or estimated the works were deferred, and the tenders were declined. M. Clendon's louder of £35 for the teacher's condemned residence at Rawene was accepted. Kauaeranga: The Chairman reported that the- Board's solicitor (Mr. J. R. Reed) had. suggested that the Thames Borough Council should be. held liable for tho cost of filling in the Kauaeranga school ground. This course was adopted, and the matter of accepting the lowest tender, £485, was left m the hands of the chairman. The engineers estimate for the work was £350. Edendale: The Chairman stated that it was proposed to take the site for the Edendale school under the Public Works Act, but the solicitor advised that a definite offer of £800 be made. This was the amount which the Board was prepared to pay, while the owiior asked £1000. The chairman added that in the event of the compensation being fixed at £800 the Board would not be called upon to contribute to the expenses. It was decided to make the offer suggested by the solicitor. New Technical College: Several matters in connection with the technical college were dealt, with ill conference with the director, Mr. George George. The chairman stated that Mr.' Mitchell, the Boards late architect, who proceeded to America to stttdv tho most modern methods of; teem nical school construction, had put himself into communication with the editor of tho American Architect, getting his advice- on the matter, and it- had been arranged thaS £150 should bo placed in the hands of the editor (Mr. Burt) for the inviting of competitive designs, premiums of £100 and £50 each to be awarded for the first and second designs respectively, Mr. Burt to bo the judge. At. the same time the Board could also" purchase any of the other designs submitted. Mr. Mitchell had left Vancouver for Auckland. Agricultural College: The director reported that, an additional half-acre could probably bo acquired at Hamilton for the agricultural scheme. It was decided to apply to the Borough Council for the area mentioned. There was a further sum of £40. collected ill Hamilton for the school, maiking a total of £220, which would carry an, equal subsidy. The people of Hamilton, said Mr. George, were very much in earnest over tho subject. Rotorua Manual School: The Rotorua Town Council asked tho Board to apply to tho Minister for the formation of continuation manual and technical classes. Mr. George stated that in a small district like Rotorua there was a prospect of the maintenance of the classes falling on the Board unless the local bodies contributed. It was decided to forward the instructions to the Town Council as to how to apply to tho Government for the establishment of these I classes.
