ATHLETICS. AUCKLAND ATHLETIC CLUB SPORTS. - There was an attendance of over 2000 persons at the Auckland Athletic Club sports, which were held on the • Khybev Pass track last evening. In addition to the usual Novice Handicap, a 100 yds Championship race figured on the programme, Day, McLachlan, Weston, Cotes, Nicholson, Tate and Haswell, being the entrants, The championship race furnished a surprise, F. Coles, who hails from Masterton, winning by inches from Day, who was only inches in front of McLachlan. The Novice Handicap resulted in a win lor H. Kneeboiie. The racing, as on previous occasions, was of an interesting character, and reflected great credit on the handicappers, Messrs. W. Riley and F. H. Bui bush.
