HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. J IA LAJtoK audience again assembled at. His , Majesty's Theatre last, evening to witness i the second interpretation by Mr. Julius , Knight and the. company associated with him of "Raffles," the thrilling and absorb- < ing story of tho exploits of an amateuri ! cracksman. As at the preceding perform-1 ance, enthusiasm ran high, and Mr. Knight , was throughout applauded for his. splendid J, impersonation of the principal character. , The other artists also cr.me in for a share i of the hearty approbation bestowed, and altogether the production was meritoriously j carried through. Notwithstanding the great. ; popularity of "Raffles," the last three per- ; formances are announced, and on Saturdayi next, another play of repute will bo pre- it sented for the first time in Auckland. The third production of this successful season ' will bo '"Brigadier Gerard," by Sir Arthur!J [Cona Doyle, from his magazine romance j| [of the same name. This play is full of j < [smart comedr, and affords many opportuni-.' ■ ties for excellent acting and gorgeous cos-1, 1 tunics. Mr. Julius Knight .will appear inji the role of the "Brigadier," a young Hus- j. jsar, who defies the powerful Talleyrand in i llis devotion to Napoleon. Knight's finest'; performances, and the work of tho support- I ing company is spoken of by the Southern ' 'press in the highest terms. !, OPERA HOUSE. | Fuller's Vaudeville Company was again well patronised last night. The new artists > j were a great- success. Profess- 1 : and Miss Amy Klaer introduced a splendid turn with j performing dogs, cats, and monkeys, and caused much laughter. Sheldon's vontriloquial turn was very smart and clever. The ■ two now juvenile series, Keldio and Davis, r I did a clever acrobatic song and dance act. j Mr. V'al. Newton was highly successful in j ■ his illustrated songs. Nellie Power, Kcenaii i and Lewis, and the Stagpooles also appear- V. cd. The Warwick bioscope displayed some j fine living pictures. ELACK-PREMYSLAV CONCERT. | ! The concert, of Messrs. Andrew Black and Leopold Premyslav to-morrow is undoubted-j ly a rare opportunity for real musical plea- 1 sure. Both artists arc so well known in tho| Old World, and the programme has been. 1 so wisely arranged to suit everyone, that .their recollection of this city should bo connected with a packed full appreciative audi- ' cneo. That all who. attend will have a thoroughly enjoyable evening's amusement j goes without, saying. CONCERT AT THE HOSPITAL. An enjoyable concert was held at the iAuckland Hospital last evening, the patients and nursing staff greatly appreciating the entertainment. Miss Alexander organised ! the concert, and those assisting were Mes- j .dailies C. Phillips and Brown, Misses B. , Garland and Smith, and Messrs. Carter, L. j Abraham, Evans, and E. Davis. Mrs. A. Taylor was accompanist. I ' ' NORTHCOTE ATHENE DM. The comedy "War to the Knife" was presented by the Dramatic Committee of tho Northoote Athemoiiiv in the Bay View | Hall last evening. The various characters were impersonated by Mrs. V. T. Jeffcry, Misses R. Carter, Shortridgc, Hallo) t, Messrs. I*l. Parker, A. Campbell, E. .1. Trcmain, W. Carter, and A. E. H. Harrison.
