[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] . . Thames, Friday. The fortnightly meeting of the Thames Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor -(Mr. A. Burns) in the chair. Correspondence was received from the solicitor to the Auckland Education Board regarding the , drainage of the Kauaeranga school grounds, and enclosing a report from the Board's foreman, pointing out taat the on Jy complete scheme of drainage practicable, is the filling in of the school grounds, and raising the drainage at a. cost of £300, which the Board were prepared to carry out, providing the Borough "Council would ■?™rl half the - cost It was , resolved, . That the Council, do not recognise any responsibility with regard, to the drainage ot the school grounds." The question of the gas supply provided by the Thames Gas Company was considered, and it was resolved to instruct the engineer to furnish a report as to the best available power for lighting the borough by electricity as soon as possible. Messrs. Reid, Gillespie, and Co. wrote offering to dispose of their property at Parawai, including the abattoirs .millings and five acres of land, for tho sum of £2500, and a further 40 acres situate on the lull, and including the manager's residence. The consideration of the offer was referred to the General Purposes Committee, and it was resolved to make application to the Colonial Treasurer under section 10 of the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900, for. the loan of £2500 for the purpose of establishing a public abattoir, and that a specihl meeting of the Council be held on the 29th inst. for the purpose of p rov <>'..; by special order to "borrow a sum not exceeding £2500, to establish a public abattoir under the provisions of the Act.
A special meeting of the Thames Hospital trustees was held on Wednesday for the purpose of dealing with the tenders received for additions to the hospital buildings, to provide increased accommodation for the nursing staff. The following tenders were received: —Mackay and Sons, £428; Potterton and Black, £354 15s; John Johns, £319 (accepted). *
