KAIL WAYS AND UNIONISM.

A THREATENED STRIKE.

By Telegraph.— Association.—Copyright. London, May 13. The Daily Mail states that the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants threatens to declare a general strike on Bank Holiday (August 1).

The companies decline to officially recognise the Amalgamated Society because its members only number 80,000 out of 520,000 employees.

The Railway News calculates that the demands of the men for reduced hours and increased wages would add £7,500,000 to the companies' wages bill. ,
