Hewitt says:lie noticed the man attempt to rob the money bag. Seeing .■■■' that bis actions were observed' the man struck Hewitt on the- face and jumped off •yte coach. Hewitt, who is a stalwart.lrish- • •■> man, i says he' stopped his horses> and fol- '■■ lowed the man. : ; They had a severe fight, ; : :■■>-. ..;. and Hewitt left the stranger much marked .. i on the road.-. : • "■ . *-._'. ■„> The coach-driver proceeded to AVakapuaka 'and'did not report the occurrence to the police till the next day. So * far no arrest has been made. ".
