SEVERAL OFFENDERS FINED, [BY TKLKGHAm. —OWN' CORKKSPONDBNT.J Thames, Thursday. At the sitting of the Thames Magistrate*! Court to-day, before Mr. R. S. Hush, S.M., several cases of breaches of the Licensing Act by prohibited persons were dealt with. Three men named W. J. Martin, S. Marsdon, and P. Hennessey, were charged together, Marsdon, who is a prohibited person, with procuring Hennessey to get liquor for him. Hennessey with procuring beer for Marsdon. and Martin with assisting to procure the liquor. Marsdon and Hennessey were each fined 20i and costs, but the ca.se against. Martin was dismissed on the ground that he had not assisted to procure the beer. Joseph Windsor, a prohibited person, pleaded guilty to being found on licensed premises during the currency of an order, but stated that he was only there a few seconds. He was fined 20s and costs. Robert Mill* was charged with being on licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order. Evidence was given by the license* of the Warwick Arms Hotel that Mills had visited that hotel and asked to be served with drink, and had denied that there wa.s a prohibition order out against him. Accused was fined £5 and costs. A similar charge against T. Quadri was dismissed, on the grounds that the visit was a purely business one. His Worship, however, cautioned the defendant against visiting licensed premises, and impressed upon him the fact that prohibited persons should not visit licensed premises even on business. Edward Case was charged with supplying liquor to Wm. Twentyrnan. and Twentyrnan with having procured the liquor from Case, he being a prohibited person. Twentyrnan pleaded guilty, and was fined £5 and costs, and Case was fined 20s and costs.
