FIRE AT PAEROA.

Paeroa, Monday. A fire started a little after eight o'clock 011 Saturday night in a, building in Paeroa, formerly occupied as a hotel by Mr. M. 0. Power, who owns the building. Fortunately the fire was discovered before it got too strong a hold, and the only damage done was a large hole burned in the upstairs passage. The origin of the lire is unknown. The only person occupying the building was a young man, who sleeps downstairs, anil the fire was upstairs. Some empty kerosene bottles and portions of the burnt floor, which smelt strongly of kerosene, were taken charge of by Constable Henry.
