THE VOLUNTEER DISTRICTS
COLONEL DAVIES' SUCCESSOR,
It is* stated on excellent authority ; that Colonel Wolfe, officer in charge of the Nelson district, has accepted command of the Auckland volunteer district, in succession to Colonel Davies, who has been made Inspector-General, and will arrive in Auckland shortly to take up his new duties. [SY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Dunedin, Tuesday. The following appears in the Dunedin Star:"We are in a position to say that the command of . the Otago volunteer district has not yet been decided on. Colonel ABbott, of Auckland, was mentioned as the probable successor to Colonel Robin (appointed a member of the Council of Defence), but he has to go Home for a period of six months, beginning in March next. The command of the Otago district will be settled in a few days. Colonel, Bauchop goes to Wellington in Colonel Webb's place, and will be followed in command of the Canterbury district by Colonel Hawkins (Southland).
