THE AMBASSADOR TO WASHINGTON

CANADIAN ON HIS STAFF. Ey Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received December 25, 10.15 a.m.) London, December 24. The Daily Mail says it is understood that a Canadian is to be appointed to the staff of the new Ambassador to Washington, Mr. James Bryce.

A cablegram in Monday's Herald said that the Canadians disapproved of Mr. Bryce" s appointment to Washington, on the ground that he had overlooked Canada's interests in the past. It was authoritatively stated in August that Canadian experts had acted as advisers to tho British Minister at Washington throughout all recent negotiations regarding Canadian questions. The result of the Alaskan Boundary Commission has shaken the confidence of the Canadians in the diplomatic methods of the Home Government.
