The annual picnic in connection with the leaking-- up of the Pukekohe East school was held on the 20th inst. The morning was rather wet, but the weather cleared tip. A good number of parents and friends were present, besides a full muster of school children, and all seemed to enjoy themselves. After running races for prizes and playing games tea was partaken of, and a present was handed to each scholar. Cheers were then given by the children for the friends who had provided the good things, also for their teachers, Mr. Cahill replying for himself and Miss Joyce. A new creamery is about to be erected in the lowef end of" the district (in Tuhimato) by the Auckland Pure Milk Supply Company. The need of a creamery in this place has long been feK, and as a new road is to be opened through to the Paerata side it will be a good centre. The road is to be metalled from Drury end about as far as the creamery this year, the Government having assisted with a grant of £100, so that with the good prices ruling for all kinds of farm produce the farmers here should be looking forward to good tunes.—(Pukekohe East Correspondent.)
