Welij kotos', Sunday. A deittatiox yesterday waited on the Premier anil asked that the Government should acquire the Bellevuo Gardens, at Lower Hutt, which the present owner says he will cut up for building' sites. The Premier said the Government had no power to purchase tho gardens. If the local bodies it-ally desired to purchase the property he was propared without- in any way committing the (government on the, subject to introduce legislation next session empowering the acquisition of the gardens, by the local bodies interested.
