Angloos, a, Berber chief, "with * strong force, has entered the Moroccan port of Mogador and demanded the removal of the residents of the Mellah and of all the Jewish merchants in the Moorish quarter, many; of whom are under European protection. ■• ■ .■■'. ' The Jews refused to remove, and' Angloos then threatened to sack and burn their houses. The Powers arc sending warships to the scene, and the Sultan is send-, ing troops. (Received September 10, 9.44 p.m.) Tangier, September 10/ *< On the Sultan's troops reaching Mogador they joined those of the chief Angloos. The latter had captured the town, and the Sultan's troops are assisting him in compelling the Jews to remove from the town and establish a> Ghetto elsewhere. The people of Mogador (a town on the west coast of Morocco) ire now "under the protection of police officered by Frenchmen and Spaniards. The third quarter of Mogador, known as " Mellah," is the Ghetto or .Jewish quarter. Mogador is a station of the> London Jews' Society. Of the population o£ the citv, 19,000, about 8000 are Jews.
