In investment lines Now Zealand Insurances'sold at £3 luS bcl, and more were available at £3 Ms, late buyers quoting £3 12,. South British Insurances were done at £5 12s 6d and £5 13s, ami there was further demand at £5 12s 6d, sellers asking £5 15s. Gisborno Gas changed hands at 48s, and more were wanted at 48s. Northern Steamships (paid up) were placed at 17s 3d, and there were late buyers at 17s, sellers holding for 17s 6d. Kauri Timbers (contributing) sold at 4s lOd; late sellers 4s lOd, buyers 4s 9d. Auckland Tramways had sales at £11 13s and closed with demand at £11 lis, late sellers asking £11 14s Hill and Plummets were done at 21s, late sellers 225, buyers 20s 6d. Choice New Zealand butter is selling at 114s anil Danish at 122s per cwt. The cheese market is a little quieter at the j ■ante quotation 83 last week. Good business is being done in hemp at higher prices. U.f.a.g. Wellington on spot is quoted at £34 10s per ton. The same quotation rules for October and December shipments. The stock on hand ia 624 tons. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last week. New Zealand longberried wheat on spot ia quoted at 30s 6d per 4961b; shortberried, 30s. These prices are nominal. New Zealand sparrowbill oats, ex granary, per quarter of 3341b, are quoted at 255; Danish, per 3201b, 19s 6d; steady market. New Zealand beans, f.a.g. old crop, per 504;b, are quiet at 34s 6d. New Zealand partridge peas are quoted up to 48s per 5041b; blue, 30s to 40s; quiet market. At the kauri gum auction sates only a moderate supply of poor assortment was offered. The -average prices were:—Ordinary fair to three-quarter-scraped, 135s per cwt; fair half-scraped, 80s per cwt; brown, fair half to threequarterscraped, 85s per cwt; pickings, common to good, 45« per cwt; bush gum, fair to good, pale and amber set aped. 150s per cwt; scraped, firm. WELLINGTON FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET, [BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT,] Wellington, Monday. With the change to warmer weather the Wellington market during the week showed a very keen spirit, and this in spite of the large quantities of fruit forward. For Rarotougaii oranges up to 9* per case was secured. The 5000 cases from that place landed generally in good order. New Zealand apple* are still'greatly inquired for, desnert being worth up to lis and cookers to 8s od per ease. All Sydney fruit sold at exceptionally good prices. New Zealand tomatoes are worth from la 3d to la 6d per lb, with excellent prospects. Lemons and passion-fruit, 4s to 5s per case; asparagus, lOd to Is 4d per bundle; cucumbers, 6d to 9d each; rhubarb, for large bundles U* to 14s per dozen, smaller-sized 6*» to fin.
