NOMINATIONS. FOR THE FIRST COUNCIL. MR. O. NICHOLSON ELECTED MAYOR: The election of the first Council for the newly-formed borough of Mount Eden promises to arouse very keen interest in the district, as the nominations for councillors for each ward aro double the number required, and polling should be very heavy next Saturday, when the election takes place. There will, however, be no contest for the Mayoralty, as Mr. Oliver Nicholson, the, chairman of the old Road Board, has been elected unopposed. In all there were 25 nominations for the 12.councillors' seats, three being required for each ward. The nominations closed at noon on Saturday, and were as follows:- No IWARD No. 1 WARD.
