MacMahon. Mesdames Listou Wilson and C. A. Whitney, of Remuera, who have been on a short visit to Australia, returned by tho Victoria from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Hermann Brown, of Messrs. Brown, Geddcs, and Co., of Auckland, who has been residing in Germany for some years past, .was a passenger from Sydney by the Victoria yesterday. Judge A. Wilder, of the Court of Hawaii, and Mrs. Wilder, who have " been spendiug a short, holiday visit in New Zealand, leave for Honolulu by the mail steamer Sonoma to-morrow. Mr'. Thomas Aitken, grandmaster of the Auckland District Manchester Unity Oddfellows, accompanied -by Mr. John Mcleod (district v secretary) and Mr. W. , Thomas (district treasurer), left on Saturday by the Tarawcra, to pay an official visit to the Gisborne Lodge of 'Oddfellows. On Friday evening the ladies' committee of the Remuera Children's Home entertained a. number of friends to a social evening, arranged for the purpose of presenting the honorary secretary (Mrs. F. M. Hay) with a testimonial given by the ladies' committee. The Rev. G. B. Monro presided, and musical items were contriV buted by Mrs. Dixon, Misses Speed, Hall, Scott and Hay, and Messrs. P. and L. .Giles. The presentation, which consisted of a valuable tea and coffee service, duly inscribed, was made by the president (Mrs. Giles), who spoke in high praise >f the long 'and faithful service rendered to tho committee by Mrs. Hay, who, for a number 'of years, had occupied the posi- * lions' of hon. sec. "and treasurer to the home. Mrs. Hay thanked the committee, and spoke feelingly of the way the members had suported her in her duties. The Rev. G; B. Monro, spoke highly of the services rendered by Mrs. flay. \ ' On Saturday afternon, at St. Mary's I Parish Hall, Parnell, a number of representative ladies , met for the purpose of giving a send-off and making a presentation to Mrs. H. C. Tewsley, prior to her departure for Wellington. The hall was , : . charmingly arranged .as a drawing-room, and I Messrs. Marriage and Armiger's orchestra 1 of five performers, contributed an excellent programme of music, from the : stage. Afternoon tea was provided.
