A peculiar " wedding " took place a few days ago at P*pawai (says the Wairarapa, News). The Maori prophetess, who is an advocato of brandy and cleanliness ae a cure for all ills, brought down with her to l'apawai from Napier a number of her female disciples who were "wedded" to an equal number of Wairarapa women neophytes. There were 20 brides in aill, and everyone was attired in orthodox British wedding garments—white dresses, veils, orange blossoms, and white satin slices. A'verv (striking group of the 20 '-brides" with {he prophetess, also attired in bridal ray. in the centre, was _ photographed.
