EXPERT evidence in the Basildon murder case shows that there are indications that Watson was shot at a distance of twelve feet, and his wife twice at distances of eighteen and eight feet respectively. The prisoners' clothes and boots were slightly bloodstained. Both prisoners were committed for trial.

In this case two brothers named Buckham, sons of a farmer, are alleged to have murdered a man named Watson and his wife for taking water from their father's land contrary to his orders.
