THE LIQUOR. QUESTION.

Cup.isTcnirßCH, Saturday. Both morning papers take the Licensing Committee severely to task for refusing to grant a. conditional license to the Exhibition. One of the features of the Tourist Department's court in the Exhibition will be a display of stags' heads. There will be titty red deer heads from Wairarapa, thirty from North Otago and Nelson, also a number of fallow deer heads from Otago and Nelson. CADET CAMP ABANDONED. The Cabinet has decided that the cost of holding a cadet, camp at Christehurch, is more than it feels justified in incurring, and the proposal has, therefore, been abandoned. Tlie Minister in charge of the Exhibition has received a cable of advice from the High Commissioner, stating that the following gentlemen connected with the British Government exhibit have left London:—Mr. Longden, art exhibit representative, August 6, by the India ; Mr. Harrison, ""engaged to unpack the art exhibit, by the Ortona on July 18; Captain Aitken, British Commissioner, on August 31, in the Mongolia, with three assistants.

The Exhibition buildings are now completed. The installation of the Canadian Government exhibit- has been commenced.

Large shipments (if exhibits are arriving daily. A number of late applications for .space are l>eing received, and every effort is being made to liud accommodation.

Mr. Hamilton, of Chicago, manager for Mr. Frederic Shipman's side shows, has arrived.

Some magnificent models of warships have arrived from the British Admiralty; also models of large steamers belonging to companies trading to the colony. The British and Foreign Sailors' Society, of London, shipped their exhibit of the Victory aboard the steamer Kumara.

At the present time there are upwards of 500 men employed in the different parts of the Exhibition buildings. When exhibitors commence fitting up it is estimated the number will he increased to 1000.

The Auckland Committee of the New Zealand Exhibition have, accepted the following tenders. Fancy rope in Auckland colours for festooning the court, Mr. Spedding, Karangahape Road; four signs, Brilliant Sign company: flags for decorating, Messrs. Donald and Edenborough ; electric lighting of court, Messrs. Scott Bros., of Christchurch; kauri columns, Messrs. J. H. Price, Christchurch ; easels, shields, and flag poles. JJ.S.C. Mr. Robert T. Chatfield was appointed manager of the Auckland court.
