INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION .

A i.oan' and industrial exhibition, in aid of the debt, reduction fund of SI. Mary's Cathedral, was opened by the Mayor of Parnell (Mr. G. W. Basley) in St. Mary's Palish Hall. Parnell, yesterday afternoon. The promoters of the function ate to be congratulated upon the result of their of- j forts, for a. more interesting variety of tides it would be difficult to get together. Besides' having (he hall tilled with articles oi all descriptions', the ptomotcr.s have also pitched a, large tent at the entrance of the Parish Hall, which is well tilled with miscellaneous articles. Tin.' exhibits arc tin excellent lot, including a splendid collection of ancient and modern firearms, pottery, a. model motor car. electrical articles, wood-carving, paintings, photography, and sugar in its various stages, besides other aiticlcs too numerous to mention. The stalks and those in charge were: —Ancient and modern firearms. Miss Lindsay; antiquity stall. Miss Basley; spurting apparatus, Miss Horrocks; native curios, Mies Steel ; needlework stall, M'isses Dew- and Hannah: artificial pottery, Misses Frater (2): refreshment stall, Mrs. Bloomtield and Miss Morton, assisted by a number of friends; sweets stall, Misses Pickering and friends. The exhibition will remain open until ihe nd of the week, entertainments hiking place each afternoon and evening. To-day's programme is a children's entertainment, including a Punch and Judy show, under the direction of the Misses 0, ami B. Smith. which takes place at u-nitarter past three, Li the evening "The Little Sentinel" will be product -1. Mr. Fred. Rowe will also give some humorous monologues, etc.
