THE CRICKET DISPUTE.

MELBOURNE C.C SURRENDERS.

By Telegraph!— Press Association—Copyright,

(Received July 22, 4.29 p.m.)

Melbourne, July 21. The Melbourne Cricket Club has applied for representation on the Board of Control.

This means that in th« dispute over the management of international teams the M.C.C. has been worsted. It had been previously promised that the M.C.C. should bfl represented on the Board, and then the club suddenly withdrew from 'the. negotiation* and endeavoured to arrange for the visit of an English team on its own account.. Iu this it failed. The Board of Control is a Federal body, which is to manage interstate and " international" cricket. Hitherto the leading players; have selected the teams for England: in future, the Board of Control will make- the' selections and arrange • terms, etc. ■. , --
