WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Wellington, Thursday. Activity is being shown in the construction ot more cars for the city tramway service, says the Post. All the bodies of the cars are in future to be made in Wellington, the under gear, which cannot be obtained' in the colony, being imported from electrical works in the United States. The corporation has just made the first payment to Messrs. Rouse and Hurrell upon the first two of four cars which have been ordered from that firm. \ The four cars are to be single-deckers, and the first two are about half finished. Messrs. Rouse and Black have a contract to build four double-deck cars, and a start has been made upon the work. In addition .to the ab3ve-sopera-tions, the construction' of two double-deck-ers is fairly well-advanced in the corporation's own workshop at the car'shed, Newtown, under the direction of Mr. Cobham, who is also to 'build three single-deck cars later on. .
