PASSED BY THE COMMONS.

In the House of Commons yesterday the remaining clauses of the Education Bill passed through committee, and the division on the report resulted as follows: ' For the 8i11... ... 303 Against ... ... 141 The Ministerialists cheered and the Opposition cried "Gag," on the announcement of the figures. '
The clauses finally passed are 38, 39, and 40. These provide that nothing in the Act is to affect the powers of the Board of Education to make grants to schools for blind, deaf, defective, or epileptic children, or to' marine schools. Various enactments are repealed and others made perpetual. The new measure is to be cited as the Education Act, 1906, and is to be construed as one with Acts of 1870 and 1903. Finally it is provided that the Act. shall not extend to Scotland or Ireland.
