THE STEAMER SONOMA.
DELAY IN ARRIVAL. The mail steamer Sonoma, which was dui at Auckland early yesterday morning, did not put in an appearance with her usual punctuality. It. was not until last night that information was receiver." that the steamer had passed Cape Maria Van Diemen at half-past seven p.m., about 27 hours behind time. It is presumed that the Sonoma, which left Sydney on Monday afternoon lust, fell in with hurricane weather in the 'L'asmaii =Sei. The Sonoma is expected to reach Auckland about, half-past nine a.m. today, and i.> timed to leave on her voyage to Pago Pago. Honolulu, and Sim Francisco at noon. The post office authorities announce that the mails for money -unlets, registered letters, and newspaper.-, will .lose .it nine a.m., and for ordinary letters at ten a.m. If tlu> steamer is delayed beyond noon, supplementary mails will be made up at the post office. Lal-o letters, bearing an " extra fee, may be posted on board of t-ho steamer up to the hour of tailing.
