AUDITOR-GENERAL'S " TAGS."
WELLINGTON CITY ACCOUNTS.

Wellington, Thursday. The Finance Committee of the City Council, reporting on the Auditor-General's complaint as to improper oook-keeping and alleged mistakes in accounts, state that the accounts as published do not set forth the position of the corporation in a manner enabling its true financial position to he easily arrived at. While not laying great stress on the Auditor's " tags," they make suggestions for dealing with the accounts differently, and supply a statement on the lines they suggest, which shows that the annual expenditure last year exceeded income by £7765.
