[from our, own correspondent.] Thames, Saturday. The contractors for driving the main tunnel in the Alburnia mine are still making good progress, having driven 18ft for the week. There is no change in the nature of the country, which is still a good mild sandstone, and favourable for progress. . :' : " , ■ ■■:-••; '• { ALBURNIA TRIBUTERS' GOLD RETURNS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ' ■ Thames, Saturday. There are 18 parties of tributers working in the Albumin mine, representing a total of 38 men, and during the month of July 48 tons of quartz and 501b of picked stone were treated, for the return of 131oz 4dwt of melted gold, valued at £356 2s lid. ' ; NEW MOANATAIARI G.M. CO. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. The contractors for the south-east_ prospecting, crosscut at the No. 3 level, in the New Moanataiari mine have completed . their contract (as reported last week), and it has been decided, not, to proceed furtherwith this work at present. The various trial parcels of ore broken out from the Cambria reef at the different ; points of operation above the level are now being treated at the battery, and there will be 38 loads in all. The first two parcels broken out from the lowest points of operations' have /already been passed through the stamps, and proved of a very low . grade, The other two parcels now being treated are shaping much better, and warrant the continuance of further • development work at these points, viz., the intermediate level east from the main rise and the western drive at the No. 4 Cambria level. It will take a few days yet to complete these trial crushings.

NEW SAXON G.M. CO. ' .';■ (FROM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. ' Driving on the No. 1 Cardigan lode at the No. 4 level in the New Saxon mine has been continued during the week with four men,' and the reef has opened out to a strong body of quartz about 15m m thickness. Colours and dabs of gold are seen at each breaking down, and considerably more mineral is contained in the reef than has been seen since commencing operations at this point. Two men have been put to work to take along a leading stope to make room to commence rising for a connection with the winze from the No. Z Wei. Cleaning up at the battery took place on Thursday last. Of the quartz crushed, five loads were obtained from the stones above the No. 2 love, and yielded Boz of gold. Twelve loads from the Cardigan lode at the No. 4 level produced 520z 6dwt of gold. The total value of the gold was £172 12s. This is a very encouraging result, and speaks well for the block that is being opened up. This is now 106 in length from the break eastward, and is of a highly payable nature tor the whole distance. ,
