Loud Tennyson has been appointed to preside over a Departmental committee, which has been instructed to advise the Government whether Mr. Rider Haggard's report on his recent visit to Canada contains suggestions capable of being usefully adopted for promoting agricultural settlement in British colonies of persons from cities. The committee is asked to submit its views upon any proposals of a practical nature relating to emigration arising during the inquiry.
