Court to-day a number of undefended cases were dealt with, the first defended case coining before the Bench being that of Fagan Bros., Miller and Co. v. Palmer. Plaintiffs and defendant in this case are flaxniillcrs, of Ruarangi. Mr. Killen appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr M ■Steadman for the defendant. The two firms had both purchased the flax on the same piece of land at Waikiekie, the plaintiffs from the Waikiekie Road Board, and the defendant from Mrs. Babe, within whose fence the said land was, but which was proved to be an old road reserve. Tho defendant cut the flax off the land,-and the plaintiffs therefore sued for loss of profit on the flax taken. In evidence the plaintiffs stated that, they paid 4> royalty for,, the flax per ton. It. cost 6s cutting and 10s per ton cartage to the mill, £16 to £18 per ton to dress, 10s per ton dressed fibre cartage to wharf, and 12s bd per ton freight to Auckland, cartage from wharf 24 'bd. It' took 8i to 9 tons of green flax at 20s at mill to make a ton of dressed fibre. There was £7 10s to £8 per ton profit on every ton of fibro they had dressed. Judgment was given for the plaintiffs for £10 !?.-> claimed, and Court costs £2 2.-, witness' expenses £3 s u . solicitors' fees £1 6>. The only other defended case was Bell v. Swaffieid. claim for £35 for pigs sold to defendant by plaintiff. Plaintiff held that the value of the pigs was only £26. which he paid into Comt, together with £1 3?i cost*. The following license were granted, subject to the following license fees:—-Com-mercial, Settler-.' mid Whangarei Hotels, V/hangarci, and Knr.3 Spring* Hotel, £+ each, tea o'clock licenses; I'oioti, £10: Hikurangi, £20; Maunguiuroto, little Omaha, and Mangawai, £10; Kamo. £io, subject to the license being transferred to new tenant within three months; Ngniiguru and Parua Hay, reduced from £10 to £5. Packet license' for Puckm, £5. Ivanieri and Ngapuhi, £10 each, were also granted: also a wholesale license to William Woods o! Whangarei.
