CANADA'S DEFENCE FORCE.
PLENTY OF MEN AVAILABLE. By Telegraph Press Association.— Ottawa, June 13. Sir Frederick Borden, Minister for Defence in Canada, speaking in the Dominion House of Commons last night, said the militia force of the colony was increasing year by year, and it ?.'as larger to-day than it has ever been since the Fenian raid of 1870. There was no difficulty in recruiting. The permanent force of Canada was the best paid in the world. The men received 15 dollars a month, and a substantial increase after the first years service. Canada's training establishments during peace contain 46,000 men and 104-.600 would join the colours in war. Tilie permanent militia numbers 1066 men.
