Tub criminal calendar for the Supreme Court sittings, which open here on Monday (but will be adjourned till the 15th inst.), consists only of throe cases. It is many years since there was such a small list.

Dihb Idotir was sentenced to Gave months' imprisonment ou a charge o» obtaining money by false pretences, and leave obtained to appeal. , Accused met two young men, and pi etended to be under the influence of drink. He represented that he wanted to get money to buy a, ticket to go back to Invereargill, and offered two tings for sale, which lie said were 18 and nine cat at gold. The young men purchased the lings for 10s, but found afterwards they.were valueless, being worth about sixpence each.
