World's Fair. On November 16 Stephen -Putney, a youth of sixteen, son of a millionaire manufacturer id Virginia, paid a visit to the Exhibition, accompanied by some relatives. lie suddenly disappeared, and until yesterday notbiu'' could be ascertained as to bis whereabouts! All sorts of conjectures were made, the most, plausible being that he had been attacked and lobbed, especially as at the moment, of his disappearance 'lie was known to have been carrying a bag containing jewels belonging to his sisdu-in-law. Yesterday, however, his brother received a nolo (o the effect, that the kidnapped lad was quite safe ami in goo.-! hands, but would only be restored to his friends if a, large sum was loiihcoining as van-aim. The exact amount of the. sum demanded has not been made public, but the lad's parents are quite willing to pay anything lo have their sen restored to them. 'The abduction, it: is now supposed, was die, led through the agency of a handsome woman, who actedthe role of decoy, and with lie- connivance of others conveyed the inl'at iialed voulh to soon- place in the neigbbouihoo'd of St. Louis. Though only sixteen the abducted boy is 6fl high and weighs within a pound or two of 12.--I.
