INQUEST AT BLENHEIM. DOCTORS DIFFER. I.BT TELEGRAPH.— I'RESS ASSOCIATION.] Blenheim, Friday. The adjourned inquest on the death of Thomas Drew, 66 years of age, which occurred at the Wairau Hospital on December 27, the day after an operation was performed for abscess in tho neck, was completed to-day. Mr. Myers, of Wellington, appeared for Dr. Walker, who performed the operation. Dr. Foster, who administered the anaesthetic, and the Hospital Board, were also represented by counsel. The principal Witnesses were Drs. Walker, Foster, and Redman, and the hospital matron. Dr. Hislop, of Wellington, gave evidence approving of Dr. Walker's method of operation. The whole case bristled with doctors' technical differences as to administration of the anaesthetic and the operation itself, and there were many sharp passages betweencounsel and medical witnesses. One counsel described the affair as nothing more than a storm in a teacup, due to friction between local doctors. The jury returned a verdict ! " That death wan due to natural causes, no blame, being attached l to anyone," and a 1 rider was added that, in the opinion of the jury, before operations there should be consultation by two or more medical men.
