The American Merchant Marine Committee's report has been submitted to the House of Representatives. It provides for annual subventions of £l per gross ton as mail subsidies, and a tonnage tax on foreign vessels ; also, the establishing of a naval volunteer service. Ten new steamship lines are contemplated. (Received January 7, 13.11 a.m.) Washington, January 6. In connection with the Merchant Marine Committee's report, provision is made in it for contemplated new steamship lines., Mails are to bo carried free, provided thd% onesixth of the crews are Americans.
