ACCIDENT [TO A FRENCH GUNBOAT.
Tin: French gunboat Durance, which was for many years on the Pacific division, stationed at Noumea, has turned up in a disabled condition at Colombo. The vessel, according to advices received at Sydney, was despatched from Noumea several months ago for France. She took tie Torres Straits route, and was making for Colombo, when the screw frame carried away, respiting in the tail shaft being damaged. News" of the mishap was brought into Colombo by si passing mail steamer, and the French cruiser Pascal, which was in port, proceeded to the assistance of the Durance, and towed her into port. The' Pascal met the Durance some AQ miles south of Cape Comorin, disabled, and unable to proceed under sail owing to rough weather.
