Ax Influential meeting of settlers from (lie Wade, Waiwer-i, Puhoi, ami surrounding districts was held nt Wiiiwera on Saturday lo discuss the advisability of forming an agricultural and horticultural association and the holding of a. show life an early date. Mr. W. Mowbray, representing (lie Hot Springs Company, was also present, and slated that ids company was prepared to help the matter to their utmost. Mr. ,rf. tjcruby was elected chairman of the meeting, end lie briefly enumerated the advantages of bavin;; a show at Waiwera. The meeting win unanimous in trie matter, and it was decide! to call it the Waitcmnta Agricultural and Horticultural Show. The meeting resolved itself into ;i committee, with power to add to its number, and Mr. W. Mcf'athie was elected chairman of the committee. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. K. W. Alison, M.H.8.; secretary, Mr. ft. Serubv; treasurer, Mr. ,T. Meirziea; auditor, Mr. W. E. Johns: committee, Messrs. W. Wilson, B. Itoberton, F. Kelly, J. Hobbs, rolkinghnrnc, .1. Howell. J. MeCaihie, J. Sidwell, ,T. Scholium, J. Sehisehka, W. Lambert, 10. Barker;' 0. .''drake., J. 1-rvrv, J. Uf-miiipr, W. Mowbray, and W. V.. John*. It was decided to hold the .-how on Wednesday, February 1, I'"',. The Hot Springs Compuiv 'deserves the thanks of the settlers for ! the granting of the free use of their grounds, etc. Excursion steamers will be run from Auckland, Warkworth, and other way ports, and it is expeeled that a large gathering, will lie held— [Own Correspondent.]
