ANNUAL MEETING.
The second'annual meeting of shareholders/ in the Birkenhead and Northcote Gas Com' p&ny was held yesterday in the Office of the secretary (Mr. A. J. Fumes Mr. ,11.''Atkinson presided. -' ' \\ ; The directors' report seated that satisfactory progress had bean made during the financial; year ending October 31; 1904. Tho number of consumers had increased con-; siderably, and the ''consumption of gas" in' proportion. Fully 75 ; per cent., are using gas . for othei than lighting , purposes, namely, cooking, heating and power. One feature in supplying the district was that, being principally private residences, a large percentage of the gas was consumed, during the daytime, and another that there would be-very little variation in the summer and winter r. consumption. •-., The manufacturing and distributing* plant were work'ag satisfactorily. ;, Prom time, .to , time there, had been applications for the installation of gas from; residents along the route front Northoote to the Luke, and tho district mound Lake -Takapuna. This the directors looked upon as an important, and in the future a profitable, extension, and had resolved, with tho shareholders' ,: approval, to .carry, this out. As the present manufacturing plant, without any additions, was 1 ample to supply this as well as .the Northcote and Birkenhead districts for, many years, all that would be required was the necessary mains, etc.', and .-;. to provide the capital, for which, of course, additional shares ; would reipire to be -'issued. . « J *
y The working account for the year showed a balance of profit -of-£45, and the total balance at tho profit and loss account on October 31 last was £73.; -.-. y Mr..:,Neil .'-Smith moved the adoption of tho report ami balance-sheet, which was seconded by Mr. Bollard and carried.
