ANNUAL MEETING.

The second'annual meeting of shareholders/ in the Birkenhead and Northcote Gas Com' p&ny was held yesterday in the Office of the secretary (Mr. A. J. Tho number of consumers had increased con-; siderably, and the ''consumption of gas" in' proportion. One feature in supplying the district was that, being principally private residences, a large percentage of the gas was consumed, during the daytime, and another that there would be-very little variation in the summer and winter r. consumption. •-., The manufacturing and distributing* plant were work'ag satisfactorily. ;, Prom time, .to , time there, had been applications for the installation of gas from; residents along the route front Northoote to the Luke, and tho district mound Lake -Takapuna. This the directors looked upon as an important, and in the future a profitable, extension, and had resolved, with tho shareholders' ,: approval, to .carry, this out.
